Søren Skarby

A bright summer night, almost no wind and plenty of tidal current. Then you’re pretty sure to find Søren Skarby standing in the water on his home turf in Svendborgsund. He loves night fishing and fishes in ways that are not so common. This applies to both bait casting and fly fishing. For him, it’s not just about catching fish, although that’s of course the most important thing, but also that the fishing trip is enjoyable. There have to be freshly made espresso and cake served on the beach.

Søren loves to see the joy of others when they manage to catch a good sized sea trout. He has guided many to their first sea trout in the darkness of the summer night and taught the more experienced to understand the special ways of fishing in flowing tides. Søren’s absolute favorite is dry fly fishing in the summer night for sea trout hunting shrimp just below the surface. It’s intense fishing that offers enormous satisfaction when he succeeds. But he also enjoys bait casting with light tackle, which can be just as intense as fly fishing.

Søren guides in reverse order. This means that we first look at the fishing spots in daylight. In that way, you’re more comfortable wading out to each spot in the dark. Afterwards, we throw ourselves into a night of fishing.
